What is the Crown Chakra?
Your Crown Chakra is located at the top of your head. It's where the traditional seven chakras (the seven energy centers in the body) end, and it's known as the gateway to the higher planes of awareness and consciousness. Your Crown Chakra is about inspiration and mysticism. This is my favorite place to hang out, in these upper chakras that begin at the crown and extend beyond the physical body through the auric field. These are your deeply spiritual connection spaces that begin with the doorway of your Crown Chakra.
Where is the Crown Chakra (and why does it spiral up)?
When I work with people's Crown Chakra, I can physically feel it; I sense the energy with the palm of my hand, and I encourage you to try doing that too.
The energy of the Crown Chakra spirals out of the top of the head, like a funnel, going up. The rest of the chakras in the body come out the front and the back as sensors to your daily life- but the Crown Chakra spirals upwards. It spirals up as the doorway to expanded consciousness, acting as an invitation to move into these higher frequencies of existence. But since it spirals upwards, that may be why many people miss the sensations of the four chakras extended above the crown. I, too, originally did not differentiate between these five chakras; I thought it was all the energy of the Crown Chakra. Why does it spiral upwards? It is to connect you above, just as your Earth Chakra connects you here to the Earth, the Crown Chakra connections you to spirit. The beautiful link and mysterious journey of body and soul.
It's not so much a space of doing as it is a space of being. This is the gateway, and it's where ClairCognizance occurs: clear knowing. As I’ve expressed in my teachings communications from spirit comes through your 11 soul senses, but angels and Source communication efforts often come by way of ClairCognizance, and this is the crown chakra.
To find it, place the base of the palms of your hands at the top of your ears; where your middle fingers meet at the top, that's the crown chakra. Some of you may feel zingy, zippy energy around there.
A space of being, not doing
A lot of people's Crown Chakras are opening up right now. You might feel spiritually discombobulated or all over the place, or you might be having spiritual awakenings. You might know things without knowing how you know them (ClairCognizance). You might even feel like you're hearing voices, and start to realize the voices in your head aren't all just from you; they could be helpful realms of spirit and guidance coming in - angels, beings of light. This is your your wake-up call.
When I feel a little discombobulated and unraveled, I take a moment and lay flat, so there are no bends in my body. Put your hands on your heart, maybe a hand on the top of your head, and ask, "What's happening now?" and "How can I aid myself into this greater, expansive awareness?"
There's a sacred stillness above the mind. The Crown Chakra is connected to knowing; it's the shift from doing to being. It's the invitation to step through the doorway and embody the mystic you're called to be. Because where mind goes, energy flows.
