Energy sensitivity and the power of awareness
Have you ever walked into a room, a store, or even a conversation—and suddenly felt anxious, overheated, or uncomfortable for no clear reason?
For many empathic or energy-sensitive people, that feeling isn’t random. It’s the result of energetic exchange—the subtle overlap of your energy field with someone else’s. Understanding how to recognize this can help you stay grounded, balanced, and true to yourself, no matter who you’re with.
What’s happening when you feel someone else’s energy
Every person radiates energy that extends beyond their physical body—an auric field. When we interact, our fields overlap. If you’re naturally attuned to others, you may pick up their emotions, stress, or even physical sensations without realizing it.
This can show up as:
Feeling uneasy or nervous around certain people.
Experiencing heat or tension during conversations.
Absorbing stress that isn’t actually yours.
When this happens, you may wonder, What am I supposed to do with this? The answer lies in awareness and gentle redirection—not resistance.
Recognizing what’s yours and what’s theirs
When you sense something intense, pause and ask yourself:
Is this mine, or am I picking this up from someone else?
You can ask this quietly in your mind, connecting with your higher self or source truth. This simple question creates a moment of clarity—helping you distinguish between your own emotional state and what you may have absorbed from someone nearby.
Sometimes the heat or tingling you feel isn’t discomfort—it’s energy flowing through you as part of a helping exchange. You might be a natural healer or empath whose presence alone offers calm and light to others.
A simple practice to rebalance your energy
Try this quick reset whenever you feel energetically overwhelmed:
Pause and take a slow, steady breath.
Silently ask, Is this mine or someone else’s?
If it’s not yours, imagine sending the energy back as light—returning it with love and peace.
Visualize yourself surrounded by gentle, radiant light.
Feel yourself centered again in your own field.
You can do this in the middle of a conversation, in a busy store, or even during a work meeting. The more you practice, the easier it becomes to stay grounded and compassionate without carrying what isn’t yours.
When you notice energetic exchanges with others, try shifting from absorption to awareness.
Instead of holding someone’s discomfort, hold them in light. You can even imagine offering calm or healing energy to an entire group, place, or community—past, present, or future.
Over time, this transforms sensitivity into service. You’re no longer weighed down by what you feel—you’re using your natural empathy for the highest good.
