What is the Karmic Chakra?
I've been talking about the four upper chakras that extend beyond the physical body. The Karmic Chakra is one of them; for me, it sits about eight inches above the top of the head. Yes, the Karmic Chakra is about cause and effect, and your personal scorecard of actions and interactions can be accessed in this powerful repository of soul information and energy. But to me, the Karmic Chakra is ultimately about choices.
How the Karmic Chakra Ties to the Sacral and the Solar Plexus
Through my work, I have found that the Karmic Chakra is deeply linked to the Sacral Chakra, where relationships, sexual issues, creativity, and new beginnings live. This could be about the person you just can't get out of your mind but can't be with, or someone you feel magnetically drawn to for reasons that don’t always make sense.
Often what's revealed is a past life connection, or a promise made long ago: it's not working out now, but let's do it again. I invite you to look at the relationships in your life — friend, lover, spouse, mate, kid, someone you work with, or entire groups of people — and ask: Is there a greater lesson here? Is there a deeper connection or tie? Do I owe them, do they owe me; or is this complete, and is it time to release the promise and break the tie?
I have also discovered that the Karmic Chakra has an exceptional link to the Solar Plexus. The chakra just above the navel; your personal power, your self-esteem, who you are, and what you came to do. When you work with the Karmic Chakra and the Solar Plexus together, you begin to see the past life skills you carried forward into this incarnation, and the calling that came with them. Maybe you're called to be a light worker, take your work to the next level, or to bring evolutionary insight into whatever work it is you do. These are soul-contracted things you promised in this lifetime. The questions to sit with are simple: what did I promise myself to do here, and am I doing it?
Karma also speaks to us of patterns, healthy and unhealthy. When you notice a repeated pattern that doesn't serve you, I want you to remember this: the threshold between repetition and freedom is choice.
Throughout your life, and especially when you are feeling restless or unsettled, I encourage you to take a life audit - a deep encounter with your gifts and your relationships. Do this especially at pivotal moments like empty nesting, the seven-year cycles, or a birthday. Put one hand on your Sacral Chakra, just beneath your navel. At the same time bring your awareness up to your Karmic Chakra above your head and ask what's really happening here? What’s meant to change to bring greater balance in my life? Make it an Awareness, Breath, Care -moment. And if it feels like you can't do anything about what is out of balance— pray for help and follow the breadcrumbs of your inspired thoughts; that's what your 11 Soul Senses are for.

I have several episodes on my YouTube channel exploring the chakras and how to work with them; including a new episode all about the Karmic Chakra and the layers of choices it can reveal. There's a whole chapter on the Karmic Chakra in my book Soul Yoga: Using Your 12 Chakras as a Map to Reaching Your Highest Potential, and there are pages in the Soul Yoga: Companion Journal to help you document your journey through the 12 chakras; along with soon-to-be available inspiration cards.
